“Happiness is not found in the end of an adventure, but will be found during the endless journey that is wishing for the end.” Bernie Theron – Diary entry: Day 27

Rim of Africa
While still in Europe I got into contact with the guys of Rim of Africa. Rim of Africa is a long distance trail in the Western Cape mountains, stretching from the all too beautiful Cederberg to George in the Southern Cape.
A month after our first contact I was flying down to the Cape to start a 54 day adventure through fynbos mountains, accompanied by the African sun. My job was to scout out a new route called The Valley Route. This route would run parallel with the original Sky Line Route.
The terrain was harsh and in some cases truly unforgiving. But the experience of discovering and conquering the Cape mountains will stay with me forever. It is a truly beautiful part of the world, one which hopefully many more people will experience in the peaceful way of walking.
Rim of Africa is at this moment the only true attempt to give Southern Africa an Appalachian trail of its own. And I truly hope it becomes just that!
